Made, with Love
From Flower to Jar
Our honey is made the way nature intended. We keep the process simple so the honey you enjoy is as close as possible to what the bees create in the hive.
Step One | Bees Collect Nectar
Our honey begins with our hardworking bees visiting flowers to collect nectar. As they travel from bloom to bloom, they gather the sweet liquid that will eventually become honey. During this process, the bees also pollinate plants, helping support healthy ecosystems and local agriculture.
Step Two | Nectar Is Turned Into Honey
After collecting nectar, the bees bring it back to the hive. Worker bees pass the nectar between one another, adding natural enzymes that begin transforming it into honey. The bees then fan their wings to evaporate excess moisture until the nectar thickens into honey.
Step Three | Honey Is Stored in the Honeycomb
Once the honey reaches the right consistency, the bees store it inside the hive in beeswax honeycomb cells. When each cell is full, the bees seal it with a thin wax cap. This natural sealing process keeps the honey fresh and protected inside the hive.
Step Four | Careful Harvesting
When the honeycomb frames are full and capped, we carefully remove them from the hive. We always leave plenty of honey behind so the bees have enough food to stay healthy and strong.
Step Five | Gentle Extraction
The honey is removed from the honeycomb using a honey extractor, which spins the frames and allows the honey to flow out naturally. The honey is then lightly strained to remove small pieces of wax while keeping all of its natural goodness.
Step Six | Raw and Unfiltered
Our honey is raw and unfiltered, meaning it is never overheated or heavily processed. This allows it to keep its natural enzymes, pollen, antioxidants, and rich flavor. Because it is raw, the honey may naturally crystallize over time — a normal sign of pure honey.
Step Seven | Bottled With Care
After extraction, the honey is allowed to settle and is then poured into jars in small batches. From our hives to your table, every jar contains pure, natural honey made by bees and handled with care.
Our Beekeeping Philosophy
We believe that great honey begins with healthy, well-cared-for bees. Our approach to beekeeping focuses on supporting strong colonies while allowing the bees to do what they naturally do best.
We manage our hives with care and respect for the bees, avoiding synthetic chemicals and following natural, organic-minded practices. While our honey is not certified organic, we aim to keep our hives and surrounding environment as clean and natural as possible.
When harvesting honey, we always leave plenty behind for the bees so they have the food they need to thrive. By prioritizing the health of our colonies, we ensure that the honey we produce remains pure, natural, and full of flavor.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to share honest, high-quality honey while caring for the bees and the land they depend on.
From Our Hives in Okotoks, Alberta
Our honey comes from hives located in and around Okotoks, Alberta. The bees forage on a variety of local flowers throughout the season, giving our honey its unique flavor and character.
Southern Alberta’s fields, gardens, and wildflowers provide a rich and diverse source of nectar for our bees. The exact taste and color of the honey can vary slightly from season to season depending on which flowers are blooming at the time.
By producing honey locally, we’re able to carefully manage our hives and harvest in small batches to ensure the highest quality. From our hives in Okotoks to your table, we’re proud to share honey that reflects the landscape and natural beauty of our region.
Our Honey, Nothing Added
We believe honey should stay just the way the bees made it. That’s why we keep our process as simple and natural as possible.
Our honey is:
Raw – never overheated or pasteurized
Unfiltered – only lightly strained to remove small pieces of wax
Pure – nothing added, nothing removed
Small-batch – harvested and bottled with care
We don’t blend our honey with other sources, and we never add sweeteners, syrups, or artificial ingredients. Every jar contains only pure honey created by our bees.
Because our honey is raw and natural, it may vary slightly in color and flavor depending on the flowers the bees visited during the season. This natural variation is part of what makes real honey so special.
Honey Fun Facts
Why Does Raw Honey Crystallize?
Raw honey naturally crystallizes over time. This happens because honey contains natural sugars that can form crystals as the honey cools or ages. Crystallization is completely normal and actually shows that the honey is pure and minimally processed. If you prefer liquid honey, simply place the jar in warm water and stir gently until it returns to its smooth texture.
Why Is Unfiltered Honey Better?
Unfiltered honey keeps many of the natural elements that are often removed during heavy processing. This includes small amounts of pollen, propolis, and beneficial enzymes created by the bees. Because of this, unfiltered honey keeps more of its natural flavor, nutrients, and character from the flowers the bees visited.
